Corona Renderer Licensing: What's New in Version 8?

As part of our ongoing efforts to integrate Corona into the Chaos ecosystem, we're excited to announce significant updates coming with the release of Corona Renderer 8 at the beginning of 2022. First off, let's talk about what's included in the update. The newest addition to the ecosystem is a scattering tool, now known as Chaos Scatter, which will be available at no extra cost. This feature will allow for more realistic and detailed renderings of complex scenes. Additionally, we're also adding support for Chaos Cloud and Chaos Scans later in the year.

To make these new features possible, we're making some adjustments to our licensing model. We're offsetting the costs by increasing prices for short-term and render node licenses, while keeping pricing more affordable for long-term customers. Corona 8 will also come bundled with Chaos Cosmos, a library of smart 3D assets that will enhance your rendering capabilities. On top of that, the new version will feature updated visuals and a new licensing backend that's shared with other Chaos products.
